Have you ever wondered why black women are afraid of the doctor? Or why they wait too late to speak up on health issues? As black women we have dealt with unwarranted experiments, discrimination, and trust issues within the medical community. As black women we are more likely to receive harassment and untrustworthy medical advice due to discrimination and non medical biases. these biases has created a unsafe environment for black women and also a broken relationship with hospitals and black women. With new research out is was found that by looking at the death certificates between 2016 and 2017, mortality of black women was 3.5 times more than non-hispanic white women.
